Description

RYC offers a very professional & fun swim instruction program. Instructors are fully trained through American Red Cross. Sign-up is by session only and lessons are in 30 minute time blocks.

Lessons are daily, Monday through Friday, and each session is 1 week long.

If you have any question about lessons and levels, please contact us.

Please note: These are group lessons, not private lessons, for information regarding private lessons please contact us at meghan@rochesteryc.com

Level 1
For children ages 3-4 to better orient them to the aquatic environment and allow them to move more comfortably through the water. Students will focus on: staying in the pool for the entire lesson, floating, glides, kicking, arm action, and going under water.

Level 2
For children ages 4-5 who are ready to learn the basics of swimming strokes. Students will focus on: floating independently, swimming independently, front crawl and back crawl basics, and jumping into the pool unassisted.

Level 3
For children ages 5-6 who exhibit signs of water readiness for demonstration of strokes in deep water. Students are taught to coordinate front crawl and back crawl and are introduced to treading water and diving.

Level 4
For children ages 6-7 who have completed level 3 and are ready for continued stroke development. Students continue to work on improving strokes previously learned while learning elementary backstroke and sidestroke.

Level 5
For children ages 8 & up who show stroke proficiency. The emphasis here is on stroke refinement and endurance. Children will be swimming lengths of the pool as well as working on dives and flip turns.

Level 6
For older children who show a more advanced demonstration of strokes. Children will be required to swim 250 yards without stopping before advancing to level 7.

Level 7
For children ages 12 & up who are advanced in their skills. Instructors will focus on endurance as well as techniques used in competitive swimming.
